Welcome to my food blog! I see you’ve clicked on the personal page… So lets get personal.
I’ve always had an overwhelming sweet tooth which resulted in many vending machine purchases of skittles and fruity snacks, which then resulted in very expensive bills at Dental Land. Sorry dad. That sweet tooth later became a hobby: High school. 2007. Refrigerated Tollhouse chocolate chip cookie dough, to be specific. I remember the first time I baked them and brought them in for other students. Holy happiness! No one smiles bigger than when there are free cookies in front of their faces. DING. A lightbulb went off; Why aren’t I doing this all the time? I love making other people happy. I know how to put dough in an oven for 10-12 minutes. Why haven’t I been doing this all along?! It was then, in that moment, I decided to become a baker.
No one in my immediate family bakes and not many people in my family cook. I grew up eating out at restaurants (which I feel very fortunate about) and often eating cereal and candy for all meals (a personal choice.) Honestly, for many years my diet was Fruity Pebbles, Toaster Strudel, Snickers ice cream bars and boxed Mac n’ Cheese. How I still have all of my teeth is a MYSTERY.
I watched the Food Network like it was my job and studied others’ food blogs like they were the Bible which has helped form my knowledge and experience of baked goods I have today. Since then, I have learned the importance of healthy eating and taking care of your body from the inside, out. So here you’ll find a balance of both healthy and indulgent recipes that I have tried time and time again.
Enjoy,
Monette
FUN FACTS:
I had a really fun baking show (called SWEET EATS) on Youtube with one of my best friends Jess Luc which you can watch HERE.
Every year for Christmas I bake hundreds (yes, hundreds) of cookies and send them off to family and friends. This, to me, is the definition of happiness.
I also really enjoy decorating cookies, cakes and cupcakes which you can see below:
